Make a museum the anchor rather than trying to visit every institution along Fifth Avenue. Our coverage here follows city history, civic life and exhibitions. Check the exhibition dates as well as the museum’s admission rules: a permanent display and a temporary show call for different kinds of planning.
Plan a visit
Choose the exhibition first, then decide how much of the surrounding afternoon you want to leave open. Use the official links in each story to check tickets and access. A nearby museum is an alternative plan, not a reason to rush the one you came to see.
