Koreatown has its barbecue comeback
Baekjeong Black returns the celebrated Korean barbecue name to West 32nd Street with two floors and a dinner built around the grill.
Baekjeong Black is now open at 49 W. 32nd St. in Koreatown. The restaurant’s official site is taking reservations, while Eater and Resy confirm the new address and Sept. 23 opening. This is the return of a familiar Korean barbecue name in a new two floor flagship inside the Martinique New York.

The room gives dinner a sense of theater without asking the evening to become complicated. Upstairs, guests can choose cuts from a meat display inspired by Seoul’s Majang Meat Market before they reach the table grill. Downstairs, Yangban operates as a cocktail bar with Korean influences and small plates.
For a first reservation, build the plan around the grill. Arrive with people who are comfortable sharing, decide how adventurous the table wants to be and ask the staff to explain the cuts before ordering. A display case full of dry aged beef and wagyu rewards curiosity more than speed.
The broader menu includes Korean barbecue staples and dishes intended for the table. Eater reports gujeolpan among the offerings, with buckwheat crepes arranged around fillings that include beef, shrimp and egg. Current dishes and prices should be checked directly before a dedicated visit.
This is a confirmed opening, although the restaurant is still new enough that service details can settle over time. Use the official reservation route for the latest availability and verify the current hours with Baekjeong.
The useful occasion is easy to picture: a group dinner that feels specific to New York, close to transit and centered on the pleasure of cooking together at the table. Let the grill be the event. Koreatown can handle whatever happens afterward.
