Bryant Park opens the holiday shopping season
The seasonal market is open. A little preparation can turn a circuit of kiosks into a more thoughtful search.
Bryant Park’s Holiday Shops opened Oct. 28, bringing the seasonal market back to Midtown through Jan. 3, 2027. Both the park and market operator Urbanspace list the same dates and hours: weekdays from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., weekends from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. This is an operating seasonal market, not an opening announcement awaiting a date.

The appeal of a market is comparison at a human scale. A small object can make more sense when you can see its surface, judge its weight and ask how it was made. Resist beginning with a vague obligation to find something for everyone. Choose one person, one practical limit and one kind of object before you begin.
Use the official shop directory to make a short list, then allow room for a discovery. A directory entry confirms a participating business, not the stock on its counter at the moment you arrive. If a particular item is the reason for your trip, check with the seller first. For gifts, ask about exchanges, delivery and care before paying.
There is also a useful distinction between a seasonal stall and the larger Winter Village. The market has its own closing date and trading hours. Skating is a separate plan with separate arrangements. You can browse without building the afternoon around the rink, and a shopping visit need not acquire another reservation simply because one is nearby.
Try making a first circuit without buying. Note the pieces that still hold your attention after you have walked away. On a second pass, compare materials and usefulness rather than letting a small price difference make the entire decision. The point is not to turn pleasure into homework. It is to leave with something you actually wanted to give.
Keep your schedule light enough to change your mind. A market can be the main event or a compact interlude in Midtown. The archival photograph shows West 45th Street as neighborhood context, not this season’s kiosks. For the current layout and participating shops, start with the park’s directory below.
