The West Village has a new room for Daniel Humm

HUMM is scheduled to open Oct. 10 at 435 Hudson Street, with dinner shaped by the grill, the martini cart and a distinctly personal point of view.

The West Village has a new reservation to watch. HUMM is scheduled to open Oct. 10 at 435 Hudson Street, where Daniel Humm will take over the former En Japanese Brasserie space with an a la carte restaurant of his own.

The restaurant’s official site confirms the opening date. Early reporting describes dinner centered on vegetables, seafood and the grill, with a martini cart in the room and no red meat on the menu. The exact menu will remain the restaurant’s call until service begins.

This is not a repeat of Eleven Madison Park. The point appears to be a more immediate, more personal format, with the hotel restaurant scale traded for a West Village dining room and the freedom to order a few things well.

The location makes it an easy anchor for an evening downtown. Start with the reservation, leave enough time for the room and let the rest of the plan happen nearby rather than making the dinner a stop between appointments.

HUMM is still an announced opening as of Oct. 5. Check the official site for the current reservation calendar and opening details before going.
