MoMA has plans after dark

An October evening brings music, performance and open galleries into the same Midtown plan.

By New York by Invitation · Sept. 28, 2026

MoMA has announced After Hours: Wanderlust for Tuesday, Oct. 6, from 7 to 10 p.m. at 11 W. 53rd St. The evening combines performances, music, art making and selected exhibitions. Advance booking is recommended by the museum, which says a limited number of tickets will also be available at the door.

The appeal is the change of pace. A museum visit can become a brisk exercise in seeing everything before dinner. An evening built around sound and movement offers a different invitation: choose what interests you, linger there and let the next room wait.

The announced program includes L’Rain, a DJ set by Alexis De La Rosa with dancer Lysis, and a performance by Camila Arroyo and Ricardo Daniel presented by TUMBAO. Selected exhibitions will remain open, including Full Disclosure: The Edge of Information Design. The Sculpture Garden component depends on the weather.

Our suggestion is to decide what kind of night you want before booking. If the music is the draw, leave room around it. If you are meeting someone for an art conversation, choose an exhibition as your starting point instead of expecting to cover the whole building. A single shared point of interest makes an easier rendezvous than a vague promise to find each other inside.

Keep dinner separate from the ticket decision. A rushed reservation on either side can turn a three hour program into a commute with an intermission. An earlier meal nearby, or simply a clear agreement about when to arrive, gives the museum the time you actually came for.

Use the event’s official ticket link for current pricing and availability. Regular daytime admission should not be assumed to cover this program. This is an announced Oct. 6 event, so save the date rather than treating it as an option for tonight.
