Weekend plans / Weekend guide
Things to do this weekend in New York City
Oct. 30 to Nov. 1, 2026: Art after dark, two studio conversations and a considered finish to marathon Sunday.
Halloween and marathon weekend need not become one continuous appointment. Begin with a museum evening, reserve a quieter interval for looking and let Sunday’s celebration remain optional. These four plans offer different levels of commitment, from a free Friday ticket to a late gathering for runners and their supporters.

For Oct. 30 to Nov. 1, 2026.
There is a productive conversation between the two newer exhibitions here. Brancusi makes the studio part of the work; Tiffany’s drawings reveal the decisions behind objects and interiors. Choose the question that interests you rather than trying to see both museums in a single afternoon.
Saturday update, Oct. 31: Friday’s Whitney program has concluded and remains below as part of the dated weekend record. MoMA and The Met retain the exhibition dates listed here, and NYRR still lists Sunday’s Victory Lap. Live ticket inventory was not verified; the Victory Lap booking page could not be retrieved. Use the official links before making plans. A published event is not a guarantee of remaining capacity.
1. Friday concluded: art and music at the Whitney

The Whitney’s free evening includes Halloween DJ sets in the lobby. Give the galleries the first part of your attention, then return downstairs for a change of tempo. A short visit with one sustained encounter can be more satisfying than trying to turn free admission into a complete museum survey.
Address: 99 Gansevoort St., New York, NY 10014

Friday, Oct. 30, 5 to 10 p.m. DJ sets run 6 to 10 p.m. Admission is free; tickets are required and capacity is limited.

At MoMA, Brancusi: The Artist and His Studio places sculpture in conversation with photographs, furniture and the working environment. Start with a studio image, then look for the role of the base beneath an object. The space between things is part of the subject, not merely the route through the room.
Address: 11 W. 53rd St., New York, NY 10019

On view through Feb. 27, 2027, on Floor 6. Included with museum admission. Check current hours and ticket options before visiting.

The Met’s Designing the Gilded Age exhibition puts studio drawings at the center. Look for a design decision you can describe in a sentence: a curve, a repeated motif or the way a surface is divided. A separate Tiffany glass collection stop offers another way to think about material and color.
Address: 1000 Fifth Ave., New York, NY 10028

Exhibition in Galleries 691 to 693 through Feb. 7, 2027. The pictured vase is a separate collection object. Use The Met’s visitor page for admission and gallery availability.
Official details and booking4. Keep Sunday’s final gathering optional

NYRR’s Victory Lap at Terminal 5 gives runners and supporters an evening meeting point. Leave room for recovery before deciding that the day needs another chapter. For friends who have spent the race apart, a planned rendezvous is useful; staying until the end is not an obligation.
Address: 610 W. 56th St., New York, NY 10019

Sunday, Nov. 1, 7 to 11 p.m. Ages 21 and older, with valid physical ID. Tickets are $30 for NYRR members or $35 for nonmembers, plus a processing fee. Remaining inventory is not confirmed.
